Kasimir
The character of Kasimir is a teenage boy, he is secretive, sneaky and agressive. Kasimir is the antagonist of our short film. He appears for the first half of the film as a stereotypcial EDL member. The English Defence League (EDL)
is a far-right street protest movement. To quote the guardian "EDL supporters are young, male and anti-immigration, says survey". But then we learn further into the second half of the short film that he is in actual fact the immigrant with his mother being Russian. He is an angry teenager just following the group of friends hes with. We can tell he has slight remorse from his actions due to his reaction after his conversation with his mum. We intend for him to come across as insercure desperate to fit in however putting on a angry false front. Our inspiration for the character of Kasimir is slightly taken from politicians. Politicians such as Nigel Farage are completely against immigrants and refugees, his policies reflect this. Politicians use their power to persuade and impress their ideas on young people.
James
James is the protangonist of our short film. He is a soldier in the British Army. He is hardworking, caring and funny. There are hints of his character from the very start when he is reading an refugee article at the begininng of the film. He appears normal and possibly a bit weak as he doesnt stand up for himself. However as the film progresses we learn he is a strong and confident soldier, laughing off a racist slur despite it being written on his house! We also discover that he is actually rather well off as he drives away in an exspensive Lexus. His character is based on Prince Harry, as not only has he served as a soldier himself, he is also known for being a bit of a 'cheeky lad'.
